The Awards of Science Excellence - What Now?

Please note! You need to be registered on the DPS Programme to apply for an Award of Science Excellence. If you or a colleague attended a training day on behalf of your school, then your school is already registered.

If you're unsure about your registration status, please call us on 01-6073184.

Have your own Award Ceremony

This year, based on feedback from teachers and the growing number of schools applying for an Award of Science Excellence we have decided to change the format for the presentation of Awards. Instead of limiting the participation to three students from a school at a regional ceremony, successful schools will receive their plaque and certificates to allow them to make their own arrangements to celebrate their achievement. This will mean that all the pupils who participated, as well as the wider school community can participate in a celebration in school at a time that is convenient. Why not invite parents along to see all the hard work you and your students have achieved during the year. But don’t forget to upload your photos to www.primaryscience.ie and let us know what you did!

We are delighted that the level of interest in applying for the Award of Science Excellence seems to be very high again this year. So, we need to know if your school will be applying to allow us to facilitate assessment of logs and organisation of award ceremonies. To do this we need to know how many appplications to expect so all schools MUST register their intention to apply for the award. Please follow the steps below to apply for your Award of Science Excellence.

By 3rd April 2009 [Extended Deadline!], Discover Primary Science will need to know of your school's intention to submit a Discovery Log. From January to April 3rd 2009 you will be able to apply online. Alternatively, you will be able to phone in your intention to apply to 01-607 3184, and an application form will be sent out to all applicants close to the submission date.
