Mellowes Adventure

A view of Mellowes Adventure

Mellowes Adventure is a fantastic facility that combines education and fun for the Primary school child.

Under the direction of experienced tour guides children can explore key areas of the curriculum including Science Geography and SPHE.

Mellowes hosts an excellent eco garden and grow tunnel where the children discuss, identify and plant a variety of seeds, plants, flowers and vegetables. Children learn the importance of good healthy freshly grown fruit and vegetables. They learn how to care for plants and how they grow.

Children learn how to make their own compost, make their own wormery and really focus on the Reduce Reuse and Recycle concept.

Mellowes also works closely with the Tidy Towns Committees and the children’s flowers and plants that they plant are widely used in the community.

Along with the outdoor children’s gym there is a road safety programme, pedal cars, mini golf, climbing areas, arts and crafts from nature, inflatable fun, mini obstacle course and several playgrounds. Last year Mellowes introduced animals to further the children’s education. A miniature Shetland pony called Flash, hens, a pot-bellied pig, rabbits, guinea pigs, a chinchilla, terrapins, a chipmunk and several species of birds ensure an all round experience when you visit Mellowes.

Teachers can enjoy the excellent facilities also with complimentary refreshments. Mellowes Adventure is located in an ideal rural country setting in a safe and secure surrounding - 5 minutes from Athboy, Co Meath and 10 minutes from Kells.
