Web Site Review: Science Clips

This Science Clips website is an excellent resource for both teachers and pupils. The website is aimed at children aged 5-11 years and their teachers. It accompanies the BBC's Science Clips TV series.

Users select a science topic from a drop down menu and for each of the 36 units there is an interactive experiment and quiz. Each unit also has an associated set of teacher resources. Topics covered include light, sound, magnets, habitats, friction and lots more that are relevant to the SESE curriculum.

Screen Capture of Science Clip Website

Short animated clips allow children to conduct virtual investigations. For example they can investigate solids and liquids by clicking and dragging a piece of chocolate into a beaker and then choosing to heat it or cool it. They are asked to predict the outcome and the beaker is then shaken to show if the chocolate has melted or hardened.

So why not take a look!
