Awards of Science & Maths Excellence
Log books must be into us by April 26th for your school to achieve an Award of Science & Maths Excellence. The assessment of the Awards of Science & Maths Excellence process begins following the closing date for submissions on 26th April 2010.
New Activities
Watch out for the four new science & mathematic activities we will bring to you during 2010/2011.
Evaluation Form: All schools that fill in the online evaluation survey by May 14th will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a visit to your nearest Discover Centre (for a class of up to 30 children).
We really value your feedback on the DPS programme, and ask all schools to fill in the online evaluation form from May 4th to May 14th.
By receiving your feedback, we can support teachers more effectively in teaching science & maths at primary level. School & pupil certs will be sent to you once the evaluation form is filled in and submitted.
Space Shaper
We’re currently putting the finishing touches on a brand new game for the website – Space Shaper!
This interactive game will test your pupils’ knowledge of shapes and mathematics and their dexterity as they try to send Spidey’s rocket in the direction of the correct answer!
The game will be ready to play in June with a competition for prizes coming up at the start of the new school year in September. We’ll send out an email when it’s finished.
Xperience Engineering

Over 260 schools have registered to take part in this year’s Xperience Engineering project. The project theme for this year is ‘Engineers Shape Our Future’ as no matter where we look, engineers have helped influence the world around us.
Everything we use on a daily basis from a bridge, to our mobile phones and even our toothbrushes are designed by engineers. Whether we realise it or not, engineers are impacting on our daily lives and helping to shape our future.
All the projects will be sent to Engineers Ireland by 21st April and for the following two weeks a team of engineers will chose the top forty projects. While all the schools that submitted a project will receive a certificate, the lucky finalists will also be invited to The Xperience Engineering National Final which will take place in The Helix on June 10th.
The National Final promises to be a fun packed day, where students exhibit their projects and discuss what they learned with the judges, who are qualified Engineers. The overall winners will be presented with a gold certificate, a trophy and an all expenses paid class trip!
