When we heard the news on January 20th that the comet chasing satellite Rosetta had been awakened by its internal ‘alarm clock’ and had sent a signal to let mission operators know it had survived the most distant part of its journey, it got us thinking...

Space is fascinating but do we know just what we’re looking at when we gaze at the night sky? ESERO Ireland have put together some great links including free sky charts, what to look out for in the night sky each month, podcasts from NASA and updates on the positions of satellites and the International Space Station. There are also a range of resources on the Sun, Moon and planets, calendars of Irish eclipses, planetary folklore and even a DIY moon globe. With sections on history, atmospheric optics, Irish Sites and space news there’s something for everyone so log on and take a look with your class.
