Awards of Science and Maths 2015

We were absolutely delighted to receive so many amazing log books from schools applying for the 2015 Award of Science and Maths Excellence. The range of science and maths work going on in schools and at events and Discover Centres around the Country is extremely impressive!

Our panel of adjudicators reviewed the submissions and we are delighted to announce that 549 schools from around the country will receive an Award, including 25 inspirational schools that will receive their 10th Award!

The full list of award winning schools will be published shortly.

Successful schools should receive the award by the 12th of June. If you have not received your award by this date, please contact the plaque company directly.

Summer Courses

Senior Rocket Scientists: Using space as a cross-curricular theme

Department of Education and Skills approved Summer Course for Primary School Teachers (participants qualify for 3 EPV days)

The European Space Education Office (ESERO) Ireland, is offering places for teachers on a 5 day professional development course at four unique space related locations in Dublin, Cork, Birr Co Offaly and Lough Gur, Co Limerick from 1st to 7th of July 2015.

Course Content
The objective of the course is to assist participants to develop a cross-curricular approach to teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) using Space as a theme. The course will have an emphasis on inquiry based learning and provide opportunities to apply skills and knowledge to real life situations. The main curriculum areas covered by the course are SESE (Science, Geography) and Mathematics. Cost for 5 day course €50 (includes lunches and entrance fee and bus (where applicable) to relevant science space centre on the site visit day).
