Ardfert National School win SEAI’s Nationwide Schools’ Competition

Congratulations to students from Ardfert National School, Co Kerry who were announced as the Primary School winners of SEAI’s One Good Idea competition for their project “Saving Energy at School – Ardfert Super Savers” at the national finals on 7th May. Entrants to the competition are challenged to run awareness campaigns for their school and surrounding communities to inspire everyone to use less energy in their daily lives and to help tackle climate change. The winning team received €2000 for their school, tablets for each team member and €100 voucher for their teacher, Ms Marie O’Connell.

The Ardfert Super Savers demonstrated creativity and enthusiasm with their campaign on saving energy and reducing carbon emissions. After carrying out substantial research they targeted the whole school by using costumes, a puppet show and a song - composed by themselves! Now in its seventh year, the One Good Idea competition extended to primary schools for the first time this year thanks to sponsorship from AIB.
